The very lovely DiamondsinChampagne has bestowed the Brilliante Weblog Premio 2008 Award upon my little blog!

I am extremely flattered and blown away she has given me this :)

It definitely encourages me to keep at it and it is nice to know that there are people out there who are interested in my blog and keep reading what I have to say.

Thanks so much DiamondsinChampagne!!

So the way this award goes is that when you receive it, you can post the award in your blog, and then you should pass the award on to 7 other blogs that you like and enjoy reading on a regular basis.

Tarina Tarantino - "Queen Alice" Pendant

Earlier this year Tarina Tarantino released the "Queen Alice" Collection. Tarina Tarantino is famous for creating fairly "kitsch" jewellry, and is well known because many celebrities have fallen in love with her pieces and are often snapped wearing them, including Paris, Cameron Diaz and so many others (have a look on her website!)

Anyway, years ago I bought a lovely little Hello Kitty necklace, which was heaps nice but a bit too "plasticy" and kid like for me to want to buy much else as I didn't really get as much wear out of it as I expected to!!

Some time last week I was browsing headbands on eBay and up popped an amazing creation from Tarina, which led me to browse her website and see what other new things she had on there. It was here that I discovered that Tarina has brought out this amazing Alice in Wonderland range, and i was instantly lemming a multitude of pieces..

The "Queen Alice Collection" was inspired by vintage Alice in Wonderland illustrations, and has a really "old world" and vintage feel about them, but then snazzed up with the swarovski crystals.

I loaded up the shopping cart on her website with a couple of items, but then the shipping was an OUTRAGEOUS amount for Australia, over $100 US for a couple of small items of jewellry? Absolutely ridiculous.

Instead I went to eBay and there were a lot of items, some with very high shipping. But I perservered and managed to nab this beautiful "Queen Alice" pendant with only $10 US shipping. Came to a grand total of $76 AUD when it retails for over $150 US! What a steal...

Tarina Tarantino Large Queen Alice Cameo Long Necklace
All the dirty details..
Queen Alice Collection by Tarina Tarantino
Lucite and Swarovski Austrian crystals.
Necklace is fully adjustable up to approx. 19" long.
Pendant is approx. 2 1/8" across.

RRP: $205 USD (but is on sale at regencies.com for $170 USD.)
PAID ON EBAY: $71 USD (including shipping) BARGAIN!

Do you like? I think it is really cute! And for such a good price too! I couldn't resist especially as it has my name on it.. ;)

Can't wait for it to arrive in the post, will be sure to post some pics when it does!

Sydney American Apparel Store - Now Open!

The much anticipated AA Sydney store opened after a very long wait yesterday. The store on the corner of Crown Street and Oxford Street, has had it'd facade covered in an American Apparel lass and the words "Coming Soon" for such a long time now that I am amazed it is finally open.

Unfortunately I only found out about this now, after I just got home from a trip to Paddington, and kicking myself that I didn't go check it out while I was in the area!! Oh well, will have to wait until next week.

I am in dire need of some work basics, black t-shirts to go under collared ones, and would love some skirts in bright colours. I've had my eye on the leather look leggings that I haven't been game enough to buy online without trying on first!!

Loving the "tulip skirt" in purple or red..

Also really want to try the "Black Eel" Shiny Lamé Leggings, supposed to have a "wet" almost leathery look..

And must not forget the infamous "Tap Panty"...

My New Twilly - Some Pics

So as my first exciting purchase since I have had this blog up and running I really want to share some photos of my gorgeous new twilly!

Please be warned that my photographic skills are limited and the lighting in my bedroom leaves a lot to be desired, but hopefully they will still convey to you the loveliness of this teeny piece of silk. Either way I am delighted with my purchase so want to show it off a little :P

Gracefully packaged in a signature Hermes orange box, with a dark brown printed ribbon. The little box is so cute and makes the perfect storage compartment for the twilly.

As I open the box I get my first touch of the twilly, it is unbelievably soft and silky. Whoever thought a little piece of silk could be so lovely!

Ok so it's very hard to take photos of one's chest - but here is the twilly tied around my neck. I thought it would be quite difficult to knot around in a certain way to make it look good, but simple over and under is quite effective...

And below you can see the twilly tied around the handle of my bag, which is a great way instantly update a boring bag!

The twilly is so versatile, I will also be experimenting with wearing it around my head as a headband or headscarf, around my wrist as a bracelet, or even around a ponytail.

How do you like to wear your twilly? How many do you own? Is one enough or would you buy one each season of different colours so you have different ones to match different outfits and moods? I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences so please leave a comment :)

A Proud Day

After the recent sadness of being made redundant at my old job, I was thrilled to land an awesome new position in the Sydney CBD. I have been working there for a couple of weeks now and absolutely loving it! The only thing is that I am scarily close to the wide array of shops this end of town has to offer and only the amount of work I have had on has stopped me from wandering up the street to the QVB for a lunch time shop.

That all changed today however! It was such a dreary morning and so freezing cold, I was at work a little bit early and browsing the Hermès website as I often do, looking at the lovely silk scarves, especially the twillys, which are the skinny, ribbon-like scarves - which are also the least expensive :)

The boss is away sick today, so after a very quiet morning, I decided to go up to Hermès and check out the offerings in person so as to see all the beautiful stuff in person! (I swear I was just there to browse...)

The Hermès store is such a nice experience, I don't often venture into "high-end" stores other than Tiffany, and it is just so nice to have the door opened for you and pretty much have the entire store to yourself! After browsing the store and asking about some prices, ogling the gorgeous cuffs and bracelets (will have to wait for another time when my purse is more well-endowed..)

I enquired about the price of the twillys ($200 AUD) and the lovely sales lady got some out to show me. I was instantly in love and knew I not be leaving the store without one. They had in stock the one I had been eyeing off on the website so I knew it was meant to be :)

So without further ado I unveil to you my very first Hermès Twilly!

I think it is gorgeous and sophisticated! I'm very excited to finally own one and bought it for myself as a congratulatory present for getting this great new job. I was tempted to go for some of the other brighter designs, but thought this one would be a great place to start as it is really versatile and can be worn with any colour.

Photos of the real thing coming very soon!

Radiohead - House of Cards Video

Radiohead's new "House of Cards" video was released today on Google.

Radiohead continue to push the envelope with their "In Rainbows" release, this time producing a completely digital video using absolutely no cameras or lights to create the clip.

The video was created using 2 technologies to capture 3D images, with extremely interesting and very cool results!

Here is the video for your viewing pleasure...

From Radiohead's myspace blog...

In keeping with their decision not to make conventional promotional music videos for any of the tracks on In Rainbows, Radiohead used absolutely no cameras in the making of its new "House Of Cards" clip, which can be viewed at Google.com

Instead, "House Of Cards", directed by James Frost of Zoo Films, was created utilizing two technologies: Geometric Informatics and Velodyne Lidar. The Geometric Informatics scanning system employs structured light to capture detailed 3D images at close proximity, and was used to render the performances of Radiohead's Thom Yorke, the female lead and several partygoers. The Velodyne Lidar system uses multiple lasers to capture large environments in 3D, in this case 64 lasers rotating and shooting in a 360 degree radius 900 times per minute, capturing all of the exterior scenes and wide party shots. Geometric processed their own data while 510 Systems processed the Velodyne Lidar data. The data was then manipulated by Union Editorial and the Syndicate to create the final result.

Google will premiere the video today at http://code.google.com/radiohead Additionally, the band will be making available the data used to create the video for fans to manipulate into their own unique short clips. A short documentary detailing the unique process used to create the video will also be available via this link, as will 3D renderings of selected scenes.

Of Radiohead's decision to eschew cameras for the "video," Thom Yorke commented, "I always like the idea of using technology in a way that it wasn't meant to be used, the struggle to get your head round what you can do with it. I liked the idea of making a video of human beings and real life and time without using any cameras, just lasers, so there are just mathematical points--and how strangely emotional it ended up being."

For more information about the making of the video head to the Google Radiohead page. Here you can even download the software to make your own clips! I had a look at the files and it all seems a little to complicated for me, but i will be interested to see what other fans create and come up with.

Also, if you get a chance go play with the Radiohead code. It's fun and you can see the amount of pixels and detail involved with these 3D models.

Oh, and Radiohead, pretty please come to Australia asap!! We love you!

Mimco Website Updated!

Well it has been a long time coming but the Mimco website has finally been updated!

They now have a much nicer looking site as well as a much larger range of products available for purchase in their online shop. I can see a lot of new stuff as well as some old pieces that I have not seen in store for a while.

I hope that they keep the site updated and new products added to the online shop when available, if so i can see this new look website becoming a great success! Not just for buying online but also browsing and forming addictions and lemmings to all their gorgeous pieces.

My pick and favourite of the moment : the Burlesque neck tie necklace

This is such an nice, beautiful necklace, and i really like the long length of it. I don't own many long necklaces at the moment but think they can really make a statement and look amazing, so i may need to invest in this one!

Bailey likes a Good Weekend...

It's Wednesday better known as hump day so thought I would share with you this cute photo of my cat Bailey. Every time I unwrap the weekend paper he loves to get into the curl of it and poke his head out, he especially loves the good weekend!

I think it is absolutely adorable, he is so cute!
